The Beswick name is probably best known for its production of realistic and accurate animal and bird models, designed and created by Arthur Gredington, James Hayward and Albert Hallam from 1934 to 1969, when the business was sold to Royal Doulton. The family business started out in 1894, purchasing their well known headquarters the Gold Street Works in Longton soon after. Their work also includes Victorian tablewares, Staffordshire figures and Art Deco wares including jugs, bowls and vases decorated with matt glazes.
