In 1927 Colley Shorter set about an experiment to have the plain stock wares left over in the Newport works decorated up in Art Deco styles and colours, this marked the beginning of Clarice's famous "Bizarre" range which continued until 1937. A diverse set of patterns from geometric shapes to landscapes and flowers were hand-painted onto new angular and concial shapes. A second range "Fantasque" was introduced in 1929 and continued until 1934. There are over 2000 patterns, 500 shapes, plus the novelty items and facemasks. Following the war, the factory's output became more traditional including transfer patterns of country scenes and floral prints. When Colley died in 1963, Clarice decided she no longer wished to keep the factories on. They were sold to Midwinter in 1965.
