A rare and very unusual item is this Clarice Cliff Erin (Green) Candlestick. It is a Shape 331 candlestick and the pattern dates from 1933, forming part of the 'trees' range.

Erin is generally quite a rare pattern and the green variant even more so.

The stick stands approximately 5cm tall and has a base diameter of 9cm. It has the Clarice Cliff Bizarre and Newport Pottery backstamp.

In overall good condition, there are a few minor paint flecks and flea bites, particularly to the green band around the candle holder at the top. There has also been a small area which appears to have been ground out on the base rim, though this could have been done at the factory. One variant of the 331 candlestick had rough unglazed panels used as a match striker and it is possible this is the same.

Stolen from Long Street Antiques, Tetbury, Friday 26th August 2011
