A really pretty and superbly painted Clarice Cliff Fruit Bowl in the Spring Crocus pattern. This bowl is beautifully painted with bright clear Crocus flowers and as is usual for Spring Crocus pieces has much more depth and detail than the Autumn Crocus pattern.
This 8½ inch diameter bowl in the Holborne shape, dates between 1937 and 1948 as it carries the green 'Clarice Cliff Newport Pottery Co England' backstamp and impressed shape number 148. It is believed to be an early pre-war piece of Spring Crocus as it doesn't have the gold overprinted Wilkinsons backstamp as found on the later pieces.
In superb condition with no chips, cracks, oxidisation or restoration, and no wear at all to the inside of the bowl which looks like it has been put away in a cabinet since it was bought new.
Overall a wonderful piece to add to any Clarice Cliff or Art Deco collection, and as an investment piece its value is sure to increase faster than keeping the money in the bank!
