An rare and early St. Ives Troika Textured Cube, decorated and signed by Sylvia Vallence who worked at the Wheel Dream pottery in St Ives between 1967 and 1969. Because Sylvia was with Troika for a very short time and decorated only in St Ives, her work is highly sought after and collectable.
This vase is an early example of the rough-ware pieces, and has a dark brown inverted triangle against a beige ground; the pattern repeated on each of the four sides. Size is slightly smaller than the later cubes and stands 8.25 cm (3¼") tall and is 9cm (3½") square.
