A lovely Pomegranate Pattern Ink-well and Desk Calendar by William Moorcroft dating between 1914 and 1916. The base is stamped Moorcroft Burslem and has the pattern number 112.
The metalwork is stamped 'English Made' with an H in a circle and is possibly made by William Hutton. The plate has worn in several places and the metalwork is slightly mis-shapen through use and age. We have not attempted to renovate the metalwork as this adds to its character. The day, month and date cards are complete, though are probably contemporary to the piece and not as originally supplied.
The pottery part of this piece is in excellent condition and has no chips, cracks or restoration of any kind. There are six closed Pomegranates around the waist of the well, surrounded by leaves and berries.
A rare item that would grace any collection.
