A very attractive Edwardian period (circa 1910) circular wooden box, made from specimen woods cut and brass pinned into the circular shape. The lid is also made from a selection of different wood pinned in the same manner as the base, and with a 'cardinal points' marquetry inlay to the centre.
This box is extremely well made and was quite grubby when we acquired it. We have since spent some time with a good beeswax polish and have brought back the lustre and definition to the individual woods in the box and lid.
The box has a maximum diameter of 6 inches (15cm), with an internal diameter of 4½ inches (11.5cm) and is 3½ inches (9cm) tall. In excellent condition with a few minor scratches and dints commensurate with its age.
