A classic shape and a classic pattern, this large Clarice Cliff Drum Jam Pot and Lid is in the ever popular Autumn Crocus pattern and is in great condition. Slightly larger than the standard Drum Jam Pot, this piece has three panels of crocus flowers as opposed to the usual two (front and back), and one panel has a larger group of flowers, making this a really striking piece.
The pot is approximately 4" tall (to the lid finial) and has the Newport Potteries Clarice Cliff backstamp which dates it to between 1936 and 1938. Absolutely no chips, cracks or scrazing, but as it expected for vintage Clarice, there are a couple of very minor scratches to the paintwork and a little roughedge around the rim. Also, the lid has an area of discolouration through use, all this reflected in the price but really doesn't detract from the displayability. If this piece was absolutely perfect, you would expect it to cost at least a third more.
Overall, a really pretty piece which would make a great starter piece or addition to a Clarice/Art Deco ceramics collection.
