Introduced in 1983 and retired in 1998 this Royal Crown Derby paperweight modeled as a Pheasant is in the wonderful traditional Imari colours made famous by the Royal Crown Derby pottery. This piece has the date cypher for 1998 and is in its correct period Royal Blue box.
Now quite a difficult to obtain paperweight, this Pheasant is beautifully detailed as a male bird with its strong plumage colours of predominantly red, with dark and pale blue highlights and gold embelishment. The base has its gold stopper showing it as a 1st quality piece, the Royal Crown Derby backstamp and the date cypher LXI for 1998.
In top condition with no damage such as chips or scratches to the paint or gold, this would make a fine present for anyone who appreciates the art of Crown Derby or indeed anyone who loves birds.
