This Shelley Harmony range Ginger Jar with Cover in Deco Orange colourway, produced in the 1930s by Eric Slater is typical of the Shelley art pottery pieces of the era. Ginger Jars are rarely found complete with their cover as these are often damaged or lost.
The jar is in overall good condition, though it exhibits some rubbing to the paint where the lid sits on the shoulder of the main body. When the lid is in place, this is not visible. There are a few minor scratches and 'pin pricks' to the banding on the body which is to e expected for a jar over 70 years old.
The jar is 9½" (23cm) tall with a maximum diameter of 7½" (19cm).
