Coffin vases are so named due to the shape similarity to a burial coffin; tapered sides with the base 'chamfer cut'. There are two distinct styles of coffin vase - those with the Celtic Cross design, the other type with the Aztec symbols which is not as coffin-shaped as the Celtic Cross type. Cube vases are, like their name implies, a symetrical cube shape. Each face has a different design moulded or cut in, but usually only two faces are decorated in colours other than the base colour. Both styles of vase are highly collectable with prices at auction continuing to rise at an alarming rate!
