A rare Cornish Tin Mine Engine House Lamp Base decorated by Louise Jinks and introduced in 1980 as Troika's last shape when the pottery was in decline. Intended as a commercial piece to be attractive to the holidaymakers, it was not as popular as hoped and as the pottery closed in 1983, this design had a relatively short run. Louise Jinks worked for the pottery between 1976 and 1981, and was the Senior Decorator from 1979 which accurately dates this piece to between 1980 and 1981.
Decorated beautifully in shades of brown, beige and a grey/blue, it is in immaculate condition with no chips, cracks or repairs; many of these lamp bases exhibit damage to the chimney where they have been knocked off a table as they are quite fragile. Standing an impressive 8½ inches tall (22cm) to the top of the chimney (11 inches to the top of the lampholder) and with a 6 inch square base, this is a piece that is both decorative and functional. Supplied without a mains plug, due to the age of this piece we would recommend that the lamp is checked for electrical safety before use.
An iconic piece of Troika design from the twilight years of the pottery that any seroius Troika collector shuld have in their collection.
