Designed for the Heals department store in London, this gloss glaze Square Shallow Bowl or Ashtray is one of the pieces that every collector should have and is a wonderful retro minimalist piece that would look good against any decor. This particular item was decorated by Avril Bennet and carries her hand painted monogram to the base.
Troika had a long relationship with both Heals and Liberty in London, the relationship with Heals lasting until 1978. Whilst these gloss 'on-glaze' pieces were popular, the quantity of these wares at Troika only amounted to 30% of the total production compared to the rough wares and therefore pieces are now highly prized and collected.
This bowl has a dark chocolate brown dished centre against a bright white gloss glaze ground. It measures 12cm (4½") square by 4.5cm (1¾") high and is in top condition with no chips, cracks or crazing.
