A lovely Troika Coffin Vase decorated by Alison Brigden (later Strutt), who worked at the Troika Newlyn pottery between 1976 and 1983. She was Head Decorator from 1981 and took over from Louise Jinks when she left Troika.
This vase is decorated in fully matt earth colours, the body in a mottled mid brown with pattern highlights picked out in cream and ochre colours. The interior of the vase is glazed in the usual titanium white tin glaze with a black rim. As is so often seen with pieces decorated by Alison, the pattern is very crisp and deeply sculpted.
The vase stands 7 inches (18cm) tall and the base carries the usual Troika mark and the AB monogram in Alison Brigden's handwriting. In excellent overall condition, there are no discernable chips, cracks or crazing.
