A stunning Troika T0701 Coffin Vase decorated by Annette Walters who worked for the Newlyn pottery for a short time between 1977 and 1979. This piece is in the very collectable and sought after 'Piston' or 'Engine' design, so named because the main (front) side of the vase seems to show an engine piston/cylinder and flywheel/con-rod.
Decorated in the stunning 'Troika Blue' which was one of the pottery's trademark colours, the deeply incised pattern is picked out in a light beige, brown, moss green and a very dark blue. The inside of the vase is in high gloss white glaze with a dark blue top rim.
The vase stands 6¾ inches tall and condition is excellent with no chips, cracks or restoration. This is probably one of the nicest Coffin Vases in this pattern we have seen, with excellent detail and great colours, and by a decorator who wasn't at the pottery for very long. This piece would make a stunning addition to any Troika collection.
