Another rare and seldom available piece is the T1401 Smooth Gloss Flask. This example has been decorated by Ann Lewis who worked at Troika between 1966 and 1972 and is typical of the era with strong geometric patterns on a bright titanium white gloss glaze.
The flask measures 6½ inches (16.5cm) by 6½ inches (16.5cm) by 2 inches (5cm) and is in good overall condition. There are a couple of manufacturing flaws as is common with these pieces. Most notably there is a glaze miss or runout on one edge and a couple of glaze bubble pops on the top edge. These have been detailed in the photographs above.
The flask can be dated quite accurately to between 1970 and 1972 as the base is marked with Ann's initials AL, plus the standard hand-written Newlyn pottery marks of Troika Cornwall England.
