A rare and seldom available T1908 Large Wheel Lamp Base decorated by Alison Brigden in a deeply sculpted Aztec-style design. Alison worked for Troika from 1976 to 1983 and was the senior decorator between 1981 and 1983 after taking over the role from Louise Jinks on her departure in 1981.
This lamp base is decorated in earth colours on a blue/green ground which gives this a striking appearance. It has stunning deep relief patterns in brown, ochre and cream, in geometric patterns of circles, squares and triangles.
The base is 11 inches (28cm) tall excluding the light fitting which takes the overall height to 14 inches (35cm) by 8 inches (20cm) diameter and has been professionally converted, re-wired and safety tested to UK specifications including the addition of a brass safety lamp fitting. In excellent condition with no chips, cracks or restoration.
A stunning Troika piece that can be used as originally intended! All that is required is the fitment of a suitable shade and light bulb.
