A classic Marmalade Pot from the Troika Pottery in Newlyn, this piece was decorated by Alison Brigden who woked at Troika between 1976 and 1983, and was the Senior Decorator from 1981.
As is usual for these pots, all four sides are decorated, with two panels are highlighted in green with a small number of the elements picked out in a light blue gloss glaze. The opposite pair of panels are coloured in the plain deep blue ground, all panels show abstract geometric squares, circles and triangles. The shoulder of the pot is a very deep blue and the interior is in the usual white tin glaze.
These small Troika pots are very sought after collectors pieces and would make a good investment, special gift or a nice addition to any collection of Cornish art pottery.
In excellent condition with no chips, cracks or restoration, the pot stands 10cm (4 inches) tall to the rim, is 7.5cm (3 inches) square and carries the hand-painted Troika pottery mark and Alison's monogram - AB
