One of the most collected and affordable pieces is the Troika Marmalade Pot. This is a nice example which has been decorated by Holly Jackson, a designer/paintress who joined Troika in 1977 at 16 and stayed for only 7 months. She is the Grand-daughter of Alec Walker the fabric designer, who set up the Cryséde company. Due to Holly's short employment at Troika, her work is both rare and much sought after.
The pot is predominantly in the instantly recognisable Troika Blue colour and each face has a different design with two opposing faces fully coloured in earth tones, the other two in relief only in the same colour as the ground. The shoulders of the pot are in a dark petrol blue and the inside is in titanium white tin glaze.
It stands 10cm (4 inches) tall to the rim and is 7.5cm (3 inches) square. The base carries the standard hand painted Troika mark and the stylised HJ monogram for Holly Jackson. In excellent condition with no chips, cracks or other damage evident, a nice piece to start a Troika collection, and from a rare and desirable decorator.
