One of the most collected and affordable pieces is the Troika T2001 Marmalade Pot. This one is a good example which has been decorated by Beverly Ellwood who worked at Troika in the early 1970's. Not a lot is known currently about her time at the pottery, and her monogram does not appear as often as some of the other currently unidentified decorators, so perhaps she was one of the part time staff
The pot is in brown earth tones and each face has a different design with two opposing faces coloured in brown and light grey, the other two in relief only in the same colour as the ground. The shoulders of the pot are in a dark petrol blue which unusually is in a completely matt glaze, and the inside is in titanium white tin glaze.
It stands 10cm (4 inches) tall to the rim and is 7.5cm (3 inches) square. The base carries the standard hand painted Troika mark and the stylised BE monogram for Beverly Ellwood. In excellent condition with no chips, cracks or other damage evident, a nice piece to start a Troika collection.
