A rare Troika Brick Vase in a design seldom available. This vase was decorated and embelished by Shirley Wharf who worked at the Troika Newlyn pottery for only a short period between 1979 and 1980, so her work and decorators mark are very collectable and sought after.
This vase stands 20cm (8") tall and is 7.5cm (3") square. Decorated in the very desirable Troika blue ground with the pattern highlights in green, grey and cream in both semi and high gloss glazes. Both sides have been exquisitely decorated, with great attention paid to picking out the detail in the sculpted ceramic form. The inside of the vase is glazed in the white high gloss tin glaze. The vase is in excellent condition with no detectable damage or restoration, though there is a very small area of crazing to the glaze on the inside base.
A really unusual piece by a sought after decorator that is sure to enhance any Troika or Cornish art pottery collection. This would make a good investment piece, particularly as good quality rare shape and pattern Troika pieces are increasingly hard to find.
