A rare and very desirable pattern Troika T3005 4½ inch (11.5cm) diameter Wheel Vase decorated Ann Jones, who worked part-time at the Troika Newlyn Pottery between 1976 and 1977. Due to the comparatively small quantity of pieces produced by Anne, items bearing her mark are both rare and collectable.
This wheel vase depicts a tin mine, complete with engine house and chimney, beam engine pump, mine workings and spoil cart, painted in earth tones. The reverse side uses the same colours and whilst more stylised, appears to show a 'taj mahal' type building with a amrud-shape roof. The interior is in the usual high-gloss titanium white tin glaze
This particular pattern is extremely rare due to it depicting the essence of Cornish industry and is very popular with collectors. In beautiful condition with no chips, cracks or restoration, a nice small piece to start or enhance a collection.
