Available as a matched pair or individually, two really beautiful Pansy Vases from the hand of William Moorcroft. The vases carry hand-painted monograms by William in blue and the standard small impressed Moorcroft mark indicating these were made prior to 1928 when the Royal Warrant mark was introduced before 1926 as the shape number is impressed on the base which was deleted post 1926. William started to use blue paint for his signatures during the latter half of the 1920's so these vases can be dated to within a few years of 1926.
The vases are painted on a beautiful Cobalt Blue ground with six full Pansy flowers and two partial flowers in shades of plum-red, purple and yellow, surrounded by leaves and flower buds. Both vases stand approximately 7¼ inches (18cm) tall with a maximum diameter of just under 4 inches (10cm) though one vase (vase 2) is very slightly shorter than the other. They are in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or damage though 'vase 1' has a small firing flaw to the flat of the foot (the part the vase stands on) where there is a small void and the reduced price reflects this. Both have the usual light glaze crazing as is perfectly normal for vintage Moorcroft items and a couple of very minor surface glaze scratches which are barely noticeable.
Pansy is one of the rarer patterns and is highly sought after by collectors. Good pieces are becoming much harder to find at affordable prices. Having the chance to buy a good matched pair is very much a rarity and doesn't happen very often these days. The photograph below shows how these look together.

Please note that the prices shown are for single vases unless you select the 'BOTH' vases option below. Purchasing BOTH vases together in a single order will automatically qualify for a 5% discount off the listed prices!
