A stunning Pomegranate Pattern Preserve Pot by William Moorcroft and made for Liberty & Co. circa 1920. The pot is mounted in a Tudric Pewter base and has a wonderful pewter rim and matching lid. It carries the Tudric Moorcroft and 01329 base stamp.
During Williams expansion, Moorcroft started production of a number of wares designed to be mounted in Silver, plate, Pewter and Brass. Moorcroft formed an association with W Haseler for whom he manufactured a variety of patterns and designs made for mounting in hammered pewter. Many of these were made for Liberty & Co. and carried the now famous Tudric mark.
A facsimile catalogue entry for this design can be found in Paul Atterbury's book on page 27.
This wonderful pot measures 4 inches hign and 3¼ inches in diameter. It is in pristine condition with only very minimal crazing to the glaze, more notable on the inside of the pot. The pewter mounts and lid are in top condition with no signs of repair or damage. There are a few minor scratches to the underside of the pewter base commensurate with it being moved around on a hard surface, however this has not affected the base stamps in any way.
A rare item that would grace any collection.
