An absolutely stunning Pansy Vase from the hand of William Moorcroft. This vase dates from circa 1920 and carries a full hand-painted signature by William in blue and the standard small impressed Moorcroft mark indicating these were made prior to 1928 when the Royal Warrant mark was introduced.
The vase is a beautiful Cobalt Blue ground with six full Pansy flowers and four partial flowers in shades of plum-red, purple and yellow, surrounded by leaves and flower buds. Vase stands an impressive 8¼ inches (21cm) tall with a maximum diameter of just under 4½ inches (11cm). This vase is in totally excellent condition with no chips, cracks or damage covered up by restoration. It has the usual glaze crazing as is perfectly normal for vintage Moorcroft items and a couple of minor surface glaze scratches which are barely noticeable.
Pansy is one of the rarer patterns and is highly sought after by collectors. Good pieces are becoming much harder to find at affordable prices.
