A beautifully decorated Pomegranate squat or onion vase by William Moorcroft circa 1918 to 1929. The base carries Williams hand painted monogram in blue, and the impressed small Moorcroft and Made in England factory marks enabling the vase to be accurately dated.
This vase has five wonderfully clear pomegranates with leaves surrounded by berries on a graduated light blue through to cobalt blue ground. One of the pomegranates is sliced through, showing its seeds. The decoration on this vase is absolutely stunning with fine detail to the Pomegranates, leaves and berries.
In beautiful condition with no chips, cracks or restoration but as is usual with pieces of this age, the vase does show some minor crazing. There are a few light scratches to the surface of the glaze and a small area of missed glaze to the foot which is not uncommon with vases that have extreme profile A very worthy addition to any collection and a rare piece to find so well decorated in this size.
The vase stands 3¼ inch (8 cm) tall and is 4 inches (10 cm) at its widest point.
